Selena Gomez
Selena Marie Gomez (/s@/li:n@/ 'goUmez/s@–LEE-n@/ GOH-mez (born July 22, 1992)) was an American singer, actress and producer. Gomez's acting debut was with the children's TV series Barney & Friends (1902-2004). Her fame grew as Alex Russo, a teenage character in the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). Gomez was also featured in several films which include Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2010). She also appeared in Ramona and Beezus (2010) and Spring Breakers (2012). She was also a voice actor for Mavis in Hotel Transylvania (2012-2022). Gomez has also been the executive producer on the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019) through her production company, July Moon Productions. In addition, she is the executive producer and also stars in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + Chef (2020-2022) and the Hulu mystery-comedy series Only Murders in the Building (2021-present). Gomez received critical praise for the show and also received nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award as producer.
Gomez has released three albums in her former band Selena Gomez & the Scene and the Scene. All three albums made it into the top ten on the US Billboard 200 and were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA): Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and Sun Goes Down (2011). Stars Dance (2013) was her first album released by her solo. Billboard 200, while its lead single, "Come & Get It" made it to the top ten in the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's second studio album Revival (2015) came out at the top of the charts in the US and was certified platinum by RIAA and was followed by three US top ten songs: "Good for You", "Same Old Love", "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020) the album that was her third studio album, was her third consecutive number-one in the US. The lead track, "Lose You To Love Me", was her first number one song in both the US and Canada. In 2021, she debuted the Spanish-language EP Revelacion and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. She has been honored with numerous awards and was named Billboard's Women of the Year in 2017 She also set 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2020. She is a well-known social media influencer and is the most-followed actress and musician on Instagram. Gomez also has ventures in makeup, handbags, and fragrance. Since age 17, she has been a UNICEF ambassador, and also worked with numerous charities.
